Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia, lying in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian and separated from peninsular India by the Palk Strait. Sinhala is official and national language; English is commonly used in tourist sector and in government and is referred to as the "link language" in the constitution.
